FRONT ROYAL -- Neil Dutton and Doug Brennand each tossed a no-hitter as Randolph-Macon Academy swept Quantico in a Delaney Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets won the first game 10-0, and the second game 12-0. Both games were called after four innings due to the mercy rule.
Dutton pitched the first game, and struck out 11. Griffin Duy went 2-for-2, and K.J. Graham was 2-for-2 with two doubles and four RBIs for the Yellow Jackets. Chris Bell went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run, and Dutton had a home run for R-MA.
In the second game, Brennand, making his first career varsity start, struck out nine. Dutton went 2-for-2, scored three runs and had a grand slam and four RBIs. Duy also went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
"In our last game against Highland, Duy only gave up two hits, so we've only allowed two hits in our last 14 innings," R-MA coach Robert Locklear said. "Our pitching has been pretty good. With Griffin [Duy] and Neil [Dutton] we knew we had two quality pitchers, but I was a little concerned about who our third starter was going to be. I was very pleased with the way Brennand threw the ball tonight."
