Prep roundup: Central's Plum throws no-hitter

WOODSTOCK -- Sydney Plum threw a five-inning no-hitter as Central defeated Manassas Park, 10-0, in Bull Run District softball action Tuesday. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Mary Wakeman had three singles and scored two runs, and Morgan Davis went 2-for-2 with a run scored for the Falcons (6-6, 2-4 Bull Run). Rebekah Ansbro went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs for the Falcons.

Strasburg 5, George Mason 1

STRASBURG -- The Rams belted out 10 hits in a Bull Run District victory over the Mustangs.

Ashtyn Foddrell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kasey Fauber went 2-for-3 with a solo home run to lead the Rams (5-6, 3-2 Bull Run). Carey Scott went 2-for-4 for Strasburg.

Sherando 5, Millbrook 4

STEPHENS CITY -- Host Sherando was able to overcome a poor defensive showing to beat Millbrook 5-4 in Northwestern District softball action on Tuesday.

The Warriors (7-3, 4-1 Northwestern) committed six errors in the game, but Sherando rallied from an early deficit to pick up the victory.

Sherando senior Katherine Seymour was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, sophomore Carly Nixon was 1-for-3 with an RBI double, and sophomore Sara Stickman was 1-for-3 with an RBI triple for the Warriors.

Senior Courtney Reid pitched all seven innings for the Warriors, allowing four unearned runs on six hits while striking out seven.

Girls soccer

SVCA 10, Middleburg Academy 2

MIDDLEBURG -- Jessica Crowley had six goals to lead the Patriots to a girls soccer victory over Middleburg Academy.

Grace Snyder had two goals and an assist, and Hannah McGann had a goal and three assists for the Patriots (12-0). Abi Beaty had a goal and an assist, and Kayla Phaneuf and Bethany Emswiller each had an assist.


Seton 3, R-MA 2

FRONT ROYAL -- The Yellow Jackets committed six errors in a Delaney Athletic Conference loss to Seton.

The loss wasted a strong pitching effort by R-MA's Neil Dutton, who threw a two-hitter, and struck out eight. Chris Bell went 2-for-3 and scored a run, and Griffin Duy went 1-for-3 for the Yellow Jackets (5-4, 4-1).
