SU roundup: Brady heads Hornets' ODAC honorees

Daily Staff Report - sports@nvdaily.com

FOREST -- Freshman Kimberly Brady headlines three Shenandoah University All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference softball honorees in selections announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Brady was tabbed as the league's Rookie of the Year in addition to earning first team honors in the outfield.

Junior Stephanie Cameron and senior Lauren McCabe rounded out the SU selections to the team with third-team accolades at pitcher and first base, respectively.

Brady hit .392 on the season and a fifth-best .492 in league play to become just the second SU student-athlete to earn league Rookie of the Year honors.

She also was named as the ODAC Player of the Week one time.

Cameron, who led the league in both innings pitched and strikeouts, was 17-6 this spring to lead the Hornets from the pitching circle.

She earned ODAC Pitcher of the Week honors on two occasions.

McCabe, a four-year starter for coach Marlena Kotynski, earns her first All-ODAC nod (and third All-league selection) after hitting .382 on the year with 50 hits and 34 RBIs.

McCabe and Cameron also earned ODAC All-Tournament honors after helping the Hornets to a championship game appearance.
