Prep roundup: Falcons fall in region quarters

DANVILLE — One inning proved costly for Central in a 5-2 softball loss to Dan River in the Region B tournament quarterfinals on Monday.

The Falcons were tied with the Wildcats, 2-2, entering the fourth, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the inning. Dan River took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Falcons rallied for two runs in the top of the third inning. Central had only four hits in the game. Central junior Sydney Plum had a double and a stolen base to lead the Falcons (12-11).
