WOODSTOCK -- Host Central rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to deal William Monroe its first Bull Run District baseball loss on Monday.
The Falcons trailed by two runs before the sixth-inning outburst, then held on for the 3-2 victory.
Central starting pitcher Hayden Bauserman, who fired a complete game for the win, struck out two of the final three batters in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
In the bottom of the sixth, Eric Semones and Lukas Waldron got the rally started with back-to-back singles. Cody Sager then followed with a two-run triple to tie the game. Sager then came home on Bauserman's sacrifice fly RBI.
Sager was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Central (14-5, 10-3 Bull Run).
Bauserman allowed just six hits while striking out four in the win.
Millbrook 4, Skyline 2
WINCHESTER -- Visiting Skyline had a tough night on the base paths in a 4-2 loss to Northwestern District rival Millbrook on Monday.
"The story of this game was four base running errors," Hawks coach Ben Taylor said. "We got picked off twice, and we didn't have timely hitting. We left runners in scoring position."
Nick Helmick went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to pace Skyline's 10-hit attack. Michael Burrola added a 1-for-2 effort with two RBIs.
Burrola also started and took the loss for the Hawks, allowing four runs on 10 hits while fanning one in the complete-game performance.
SVCA 11, Fresta Valley 9
STEPHENS CITY -- Lucas Pufnock's two run sixth-inning single gave the Patriots a win over Fresta Valley in the VACA North Region consolation game on Monday.
The Patriots (9-9) trailed 9-6 entering the bottom of the fifth, but rallied for three runs and then added two more in the sixth.
Pufnock went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored, and Matt Rogers was 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored. Bobby Albright was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Pufnock also picked up the win on the mound. SVCA starter Mike Powell struck out 12.
Pufnock and Taylro Jones each made the all-tournament team. SVCA will play today against Parkway Christian in the VACA state quarters in Roanoke.
Central 1, William Monroe 0
STANARDSVILLE -- Stephen Hamrick's goal with 5:54 left gave the Falcons a Bull Run District win over the Green Dragons.
Hamrick's goal came off an assist by Nathan Spencer. The Falcons (8-5-2, 7-4-2 Bull Run) outshot the Green Dragons 14-13. Central goalkeeper Eric Ventura had 11 saves.
"It was a great win, it puts us in fourth place," Central coach Ted Poor said. "After starting off 0-3 we've really turned the season around."
