POWHATAN -- A slow start proved costly for Warren County on Tuesday.
The Wildcats gave up three runs in the bottom of the third inning en route to a 3-2 loss to the Indians in the Region II softball quarterfinals.
"We didn't come out of the gate too well," Warren County coach Justin Stock said. "We struggled defensively ... we struggled offensively."
The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the sixth, on a two-run single by Paige McLachlan.
Warren County started off slow this season, but had won six in a row before Tuesday's defeat.
"We were 7-9 and the kids could have folded the season up, but they did a great job of battling back," Stock said. "They have nothing to hang their heads about. They did a tremendous job."
