SU roundup: Athletes well-represented on Dean’s List

WINCHESTER — The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Friday that 119 of its student-athletes earned Dean’s List honors for the spring 2013 semester.
In addition to these 119 student-athletes earning Dean’s List (3.25 GPA or above) honors, another 51 student-athletes were named to the Athletic Director’s List (3.0 or above).
The 170 student-athletes represent 45 percent of the total number of students competing in intercollegiate athletics at Shenandoah.
A department best-ever 18 student-athletes: Kelani Bailey, Molly Barb, Liz Bereit, Danielle Burris, Eugene Ejiba, Katelyn Gregory, Sarah Hensley, Brett Holmes, John Judy, Jenna Kline, Amanda Litwin, Nate Long, Amy Rollins, Cody Smallwood, Amber VanHorn, Carolyn Wessel, Sarah Wohld and Jordan Wolford, had perfect 4.0 GPAs this spring.
Barb, Gregory and Long also boast a career 4.0 GPA.
Another three, led by a 3.94’s from Francisco Nolasco and Samantha Sisson, had at least a 3.9 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Nineteen of 20 teams had at least one member earning Dean’s or Athletic Director’s List honors with football and leading the way with 27 and 24 honorees, respectively.
The women’s cross country team, with five of seven team members earning at least a 3.22 and four of the seven at 3.5 or better, had the highest concentration.
Men’s golf had seven of its 11 members earn AD’s List accolades.
The department achieved a 2.9 GPA this past semester with the women earning a collective 3.16.
