WOODSTOCK — Woodstock starting pitcher Ricky Winters hurled a no-hitter against visiting Aldie in the first game of a double header on Thursday evening. The River Bandits won the game 2-0.

Winters (4-0) struck out eight batters and didn’t allow a walk in the game, which was shortened to seven innings. Winters now has a 0.51 ERA, the lowest in the Valley Baseball League.

Woodstock got on the board in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Nick Walker, and Steve Karkenny added an insurance run in the sixth with a solo home run, his fourth of the year.

Aldie managed a pair of baserunners on two Woodstock errors.

The River Bandits (23-13) also won the nightcap, 9-2, to strengthen its hold on the top spot in the North Division.
