WINCHESTER -- Shenandoah University women's lacrosse coach Lindsey Lutz announced Wednesday a group of eight women she is adding into her program for the 2014 season.
Lutz, who enters this coming year needing just three wins for 50 in her career, has recruited a class of two attack players, three midfielders, two defenders and one goalkeeper.
These eight women join a group of 15 returnees, including four that earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference accolades this past spring.
Shenandoah is coming off of a 12-5 season that saw the squad host the ODAC championship game.
The eight newcomers hail from four states: Delaware, Maryland, New York and Virginia.
The Empire State native, Erin Higgins, was part of a Garden City High School program that won seven straight state championships from 2006-12.
"We were so close to winning a championship this past year," Lutz stated in a school news release. "These student-athletes are going to help us with our goal of bringing home that first title."
The 2014 season begins on Feb. 18 with a non-league game at Mary Washington.
