Winchester extends winning streak with big weekend

BEALETON — The Winchester Post 21 baseball team extended its winning streak to four games with a pair of victories on Sunday against Remington Post 247.

Winchester (12-1) won the opener, 15-5, at Liberty High School in Bealeton and picked up a forfeit win in the nightcap.

Against Remington, Winchester’s Cody Unger was 2-for-4 with four RBIs to pace Post 21’s 13-hit attack. Russell Repasky chipped in a 2-for-3 day with two RBIs, Nick Goode was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Jacob Carney went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Taylor Loudan was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Daniel Nawrocki pitched five innings for the win, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks while fanning four.

On Saturday, Winchester hosted Romney Post 91 for a doubleheader and came away with a sweep.

In the opener, Post 21 notched an 8-4 victory. Jacob Funkhouser paced Winchester with a 2-for-2 effort with a run scored and an RBI, and Carney added two hits and scored a pair of runs. Ethan Emmart, Winchester’s third pitcher of the game, picked up the win after allowing two hits and a run while walking one and striking out one in 1 1/3 innings.

Winchester tallied a 12-4 victory in the nightcap. Brian Thomas was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs, and Nawrocki went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Loudan chipped in a 2-for-4 day with an RBI and a run scored, Chase Smallwood was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Daniel Malsch went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Goode drove in two runs. Post 21 had 16 hits in the win.

Loudan pitched six innings to earn the win. He allowed four runs off five hits and three walks while striking out two.
