FOREST -- The Shenandoah University volleyball team was picked ninth in the pre-season poll of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference volleyball coaches released Thursday by the league office.
Shenandoah, which qualified for the ODAC tournament last season on the virtue of an eighth-place finish, is picked ninth in the 2013 race after registering 47 points in the poll.
SU is three points behind No. 8 Guilford in the poll.
Washington and Lee, the 2012 ODAC champion, is picked to win it again this fall after racking up 114 points on seven first-place votes.
Randolph-Macon, despite getting two first-place votes to Lynchburg's three, is the runner-up selection with 109 points.
Voting is done on an 11-1 basis with coaches unable to vote for their own team in the poll.
Shenandoah opens its 2013 season Friday at the Gettysburg College tournament.
