WINCHESTER -- Shenandoah University women's lacrosse coach Lindsey Lutz announced her 2014 schedule Wednesday morning.
Lutz, preparing to enter her sixth year at the helm of the program, will see her squad open the 2014 season on Feb. 18 against longtime NCAA Division III power Mary Washington.
In the 2013 season opener, SU stunned the Eagles 10-9 for the program's first-ever victory over a ranked opponent.
Following that contest, Shenandoah will have a six-match homestand beginning with a non-conference matchup against Lebanon Valley on Feb. 22 and ending with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener versus Sweet Briar on March 15.
The Hornets will also host Hollins, Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan in ODAC contests.
The middle four games of that inital homestand, against Dickinson, Frostburg State, Goucher and Marymount, represent the final non-conference home contests of the season.
The lone remaining non-conference matchup, on March 25 versus McDaniel, is an away game.
"As we have improved as a program, we have tried to play additional difficult teams in the non-conference part of our schedule," Lutz, who has led SU to 37 wins in the past three seasons, stated in a school news release.
"This year might be the most difficult yet -- we are going to have to be ready to play each time out because these are all quality teams. I know the team is excited for this challenge."
