Daily Staff Report - firstname.lastname@example.org
WINCHESTER -- Shenandoah University head cross country/track & field coach Andy Marrocco announced Wednesday the addition of an assistant coach into his six programs.
Marrocco, entering his eighth year at Shenandoah, is adding Justin Potter as an assistant in both cross country and track & field.
Potter will primarily concentrate on the Hornets' throwers during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
Potter, who comes to Shenandoah after two years as an assistant coach at fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference program Lynchburg College, graduated from Mount Olive in May 2011.
During his undergraduate years, Potter was part of the track & field program for four years and the cross country team for one.
At Lynchburg, where he also earned his master's degree, Potter coached 14 ODAC champions, two national qualifiers and one athlete who earned All-America honors in the decathlon.
"Our roster size is growing each year," Marrocco, who has five conference Coach of the Year awards to his credit, stated in a school news release.
"Adding Justin to our staff is going to be huge for recruiting and for student-athlete skill development. He is a very good teacher and I know that all of our student-athletes are going to benefit from his knowledge."
