Prep roundup: Generals' Davis beats heat to win

SHENANDOAH -- Stonewall Jackson High School's Ashton Davis handled the high temperatures to top the field in the Generals' season-opening cross country meet on Wednesday.

Davis clocked a winning time of 24 minutes, 3 seconds in Wednesday's dual meet against host Page County. The Panthers won the girls meet, 17-26, and also claimed the boys competition by a 26-29 score.

Also scoring for Stonewall's girls were Brandy Webb (fourth), Aletse Tapia (eighth), Hannah Marston (11th) and Kimberly Ware-Simmons (12th).

In the boys meet, Page County's Evan Knowles was first overall in 19:59.

For the Generals, Andrew Roy (second, 21:01), Pedro Jacuinde (third), Tyler Lacek (fifth), Tucker Lutz (ninth) and Kaelan Sorrells (10th) provided scoring finishes.


Sherando 168, Skyline 187

FRONT ROYAL -- Brett Loy carded an even-par 35 to lead Sherando to a 168-187 win over Skyline on Wednesday at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.

Other scorers for the Warriors were Jonah Pearson (41), Collin Ordonez (46) and Noah Ford (46).

Skyline got scoring efforts from Robbie Belanger (42), Ben Andrews (46), Anthony Crescienzi (48) and Hannah Henry (51).
