Prep roundup: SVCA tops Washington in soccer

WASHINGTON (W.Va.) — Tyler Fincham’s goal in the 10th minute was all Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy needed to pull out a 1-0 victory over Washington (W.Va.) on Thursday in boys soccer action.

Fincham’s goal came on an assist from Austin Stover. The Patriots improved to 9-3-1.

“It was a big win for us,against a big public school team, and a good team,” SVCA coach Dustin Wheelock said. “We possessed the ball well, and we defended really well.”

THE PLAINS — Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy swept Fresta Valley 3-0 (25-13, 28-26, 26-24) to remain undefeated on the season.

Carol Bartholomew had eight kills, five aces and two blocks to lead the Patriots (10-0). Krista Freemire had six kills and two aces, and Hannah McGann had 17 assists and three aces for SVCA. Taylor Jones had four kills for the Patriots.
