Prep roundup: Wildcats sweep home cross country quad

FRONT ROYAL — Host Warren County topped three rivals in Wednesday’s cross country quad meet at the 3.0-mile Rockland Park course.

Warren County won the boys race with 30 points, as Zach Beckner was first overall in 16 minutes, 27 seconds. The Wildcats also got scoring efforts from Nick Myers (fourth, 17:06), Nathaniel Lund (fifth, 17:13), Zach Workman (eighth, 17:58) and Erik Stafira (12th, 18:29).

Skyline (49) was second in the boys race, followed by William Monroe (59) and Strasburg (94).

Rachel Oden (19:58), Claire Morrow (20:08) and Fiona Sayers (20:41) gave the Wildcats a 1-2-3 finish in the girls race. Jacklyn Rankin (fifth, 21:30) and Alex Dawson (15th, 23:24) added scoring finishes for first-place Warren County (24 points). Strasburg (50) was second, followed by William Monroe (64). Skyline did not have enough runners to compete in the team scoring.

Also in the girls race, Strasburg got scoring efforts from Caroline Miller (eighth, 22:46), Morgan Carter (10th, 22:49), Haley Garrett (11th, 22:50), Sarah Peer (12th, 22:52) and Madison Orndorff (14th, 22:55).

For Skyline, Aislinn Reagan (ninth, 22:46), Celeste Horton (13th, 22:51), Madeline Patrick (34th, 26:13) and Brooklyn Chunn (38th, 26:53).

In the boys race, the Hawks got scoring efforts from Luke Cline (third, 16:59), Justin Haggerty (sixth, 17:23), Matthew McInturff (11th, 18:21), Christian Madden (13th, 18:32) and Tanner Steed (16th, 18:55).

For the Rams, top finishes were provided by Max Middleton (ninth, 18:06), Timmy Wallis (10th, 18:17), Nicholas Campbell (24th, 20:00), Nealon Davis (25th, 20:01) and Brian Scholten (26th, 20:01).

Central quad

WOODSTOCK — Host Central swept a home cross country quad meet on Wednesday.

The Falcons won the boys meet with 29 points, outpacing Clarke County (34), Page County (92) and George Mason (93).

Central’s girls tallied 39 points to down Clarke (50), Mason (58) and Page (71).

The Falcons’ Lexi Keller won the girls race in 19:48. Other scorers for Central were Heather Landes (second, 20:10), Bethany Neri (fourth, 21:11), Emily Walker (14th, 22:58) and Maddie Ritenour (18th, 23:20).

Clarke’s Matt Deeds won the boys race in 16:50.

Scoring for Central were Tristan Lucy-Speidel (third, 17:18), Taylor LaFever (fourth, 17:41), Ivan Alvarado (sixth, 17:46), Ryan Freiwald (seventh, 17:53) and Zach Zollner (ninth, 18:11).
