SU roundup: Schulte leads Hornets in golf

ROME, Ga. – Sophomore Doc Schulte’s sizzling under par round paced the Shenandoah University golf team on day one of the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational Monday afternoon.

Schulte fired a five-under-par 67 over the par-72, 6758-yard Stonebridge GC course to stand in third place overall.

Schulte fired a 31 on the back to briefly vault into the lead.

He had six birdies and one bogey during his round.

Shenandoah is currently tied for 16th in the 25-team event after carding a collective 308.

Cory Hammons had a 79, Wes Licklider 83 and Adam Flees 84 to round out the Hornets qualifying scores.

Seth Crean had a 91 that did not count toward the team total.

The tournament concludes tomorrow with an 18-hole round at Coosa GC.
