JMU roundup: McLaughlin claims CAA diving honor

RICHMOND – James Madison swimming and diving redshirt freshman diver Taryn McLaughlin has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Diver of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. This is the first time in McLaughlin’s career that she has claimed the CAA’s weekly honor.
McLaughlin helped lead JMU to a win over Radford in the team’s opening dual meet of the season, last weekend. She finished first in both diving events to lead a domining performance by the Madison diving team that claimed the top six sports in the diving results.
The redshirt freshman from Hudson, Ohio, scored a 315.10 on the three-meter board and a 296.15 on the one-meter board to claim the first two diving titles of her career. Both scores were NCAA Zone Diving Championship qualifying scores.
Towson’s Kaitlin Burke is the CAA Swimmer of the Week.
The Dukes return to the pool this weekend to participate in the Virginia Tech Swimming Challenge on Friday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. JMU takes on Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Liberty and Radford in the meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va.
