Prep roundup: Stonewall's Davis tops field in quad meet

FISHERSVILLE -- Stonewall Jackson's Ashton Davis claimed first-place honors in the girls race at Wednesday's Wilson Memorial quad cross country meet.

Davis, a senior, posted a winning time of 20 minutes, 54 seconds. The Generals only had two runners in the race; Stonewall's Brandy Webb was fourth in 21:57.

Wilson Memorial won the girls team competition with 26 points.

In the boys race, Wilson Memorial was first with 15 points, followed by Stonewall (52) and Riverheads (68). Stuart Hall did not have a team score.

Pedro Jacuinde led the Generals with a sixth-place effort in 19:32. Other scorers for Stonewall Jackson were Tyler Lacek (seventh, 19:38), Andrew Roy (ninth, 19:55), Kaelan Sorrells (13th, 20:04) and Tucker Lutz (17th, 20:39).

Strasburg tri-meet

STRASBURG -- Host Strasburg picked up a pair of second-place team finishes in Wednesday's home tri-meet.

In the boys' race, Strasburg scored 32 points to finish just two behind winner George Mason despite missing top runner Max Middleton due to illness. Manassas Park was third with 68.

Scoring for the Rams were Timmy Wallis (second, 18:09), Nic Campbell (sixth, 18:29), Dylan Campbell (seventh, 18:34), Brian Scholten (eighth, 18:36) and Nealon Davis (ninth, 18:37).

George Mason edged the Rams by a point in the girls race, 31-32.

Strasburg got scoring efforts from Morgan Carter (third, 21:30), Caroline Miller (fourth, 21:57), Hallie Garrett (fifth, 22:00), Sarah Peer (sixth, 22:01) and Cheyanne Combs (14th, 23:14).

Skyline dual

FRONT ROYAL -- Host Skyline dropped a head-to-head boys cross country matchup with James Wood on Wednesday by five points.

The Hawks tallied 30 points to the Colonels' 25. Luke Cline led Skyline with a third-place finish in 18:44.

Other scorers for the Hawks were Justin Haggerty (fourth, 18:45), Tanner Steed (sixth, 19:23), Matt Macinturf (seventh, 19:24) and Chase Lenz (12th, 20:04).

Skyline had only two runners in the girls race, Celeste Horton (27:07) and Aislinn Regan (27:08).
