SU roundup: Hornets finish seventh at Ted Keller Memorial

ASHLAND — The Shenandoah University golf team completed its play Monday at the Ted Keller Memorial hosted by Randolph-Macon by shooting a collective 307.

Shenandoah, which came into the day tied for seventh, finished in that seventh spot with a two-day total of 621.

SU was one stroke in front of fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference member Bridgewater and four shots back of sixth place Roanoke.

Freshman Brennan Lloyd paced SU over the par-70, 6,624-yard Hanover Country Club layout with a one-over-par 71.

Lloyd, who had a six-over 76 in Sunday’s opening round, finished seventh overall.

Seth Crean had a 77, Cory Hammons 78 and Doc Schulte 81 to round out the Hornets’ qualifying scores.

Adam Flees had an 88 that did not count toward the team total.

Hampden-Sydney, with a 286 on day two for a 578 total, won the 14-team tournament by 30 strokes.

The squad completes its fall season next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Jensen/O’Briant Invitational hosted by Guilford College at Cardinal Golf Club.
