WINCHESTER - The Shenandoah University golf team posted three rounds in the 70s Monday afternoon to finish seventh at the Virginia State Division III Golf Championships.
The Hornets had a 311 total, keyed by a three-over-par 74 from sophomore Doc Schulte to finish seventh in the 12-team field.
Fellow ODAC member Hampden-Sydney won the event with a collective one-under 287 while Bridgewater and Washington and Lee tied for second at 298.
The Tigers' Brian Burt was the individual medalist with a four-under-par 68.
Burt had six birdies, including five on the back nine, along with two bogies to post his winning round.
Freshman Brennan Lloyd, playing as an individual, had Shenandoah's best score of the day with a one-over 72 over the par-72, 6367 yard Winchester Country Club layout.
Lloyd, who was one of five SU student-athletes playing as individuals in the tournament, finished tied for fourth overall.
Schulte had the other top 18 finish for Shenandoah, coming in a tie for 12th.
The Hornets are back on the course Sunday and Monday at the Ted Keller Memorial hosted by Randolph-Macon at Hunting Hawk GC in Glen Allen.
