GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Shenandoah University golf team opened its final fall 2013 tournament by shooting a collective 325 Monday afternoon at the Jensen/O'Briant Invitational.
Hosted by Guilford College at the Sedgefield CC-Dye Course (formally Cardinal Golf and Country Club), the Hornets had the 325 over the par-70, 6,640-yard layout.
Sophomore Doc Schulte was the team medalist with an eight-over-par 78, while freshman Brennan Lloyd had an 80.
Cory Hammons and Seth Crean rounded out the SU scoring golfers with an 83 and an 84, respectively.
Wes Licklider had an 85 that did not count toward the team total.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday.
FOREST -- Sophomore Sarah Brock has been named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week for field hockey in selections announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Brock earns her first-ever ODAC weekly accolade after helping the Hornets to league wins over Eastern Mennonite and Roanoke.
In the ODAC Tournament berth-clinching win over EMU, Brock had the lone goal of the contest.
On Saturday, needing a victory over Roanoke to clinch a home game in the tournament, Brock set up classmate Kelani Bailey for what proved to be the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over the Maroons.
Brock now has four goals and four assists for 12 points on the year.
Brock and her teammates are back in action Wednesday afternoon against Randolph-Macon in the regular-season finale. The contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
