Field hockey

FOREST — Sophomore Sarah Brock has been named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week for field hockey in selections announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Brock earns her first-ever ODAC weekly accolade after helping the Hornets to league wins over Eastern Mennonite and Roanoke.

In the ODAC Tournament berth-clinching win over EMU, Brock had the lone goal of the contest.

On Saturday, needing a victory over Roanoke to clinch a home game in the tournament, Brock set up classmate Kelani Bailey for what proved to be the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over the Maroons.

Brock now has four goals and four assists for 12 points on the year.

Brock and her teammates are back in action Wednesday afternoon against Randolph-Macon in the regular-season finale. The contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
