SU roundup: Hornets fall to Eagles in OT in field hockey
Daily Staff Reports - firstname.lastname@example.org
BRIDGEWATER - Bridgewater College scored one minute into overtime Tuesday night to down Shenandoah University 2-1 in ODAC field hockey action.
Rachel Loy took the initial shot of OT for Bridgewater (9-3, 3-1 ODAC) that Hornets keeper Sarah Clare (6-9, 2-2 ODAC) was able to stop.
Unfortunately for SU, the ball squirted away from Clare and trickled into the goal for the game-winner.
Sophomore Tori Finney tied the game for Shenandoah by finishing off a Taylor Little cross with four minutes to play in regulation.
BC had two more opportunities in regulation following Finney's goal, but missed both shots wide.
The Eagles had taken the initial lead of the contest with a Colleen Dickson goal in the 54th minute.
Bridgewater outshot the Hornets 11-10 with the two teams splitting 10 penalty corners.
Clare had four saves in the losing effort.
Shenandoah is back in action on Thursday night at 7:00 in an ODAC contest against Washington and Lee. This game is part of Homecoming Weekend 2013 and is the squad's "Play for a Cure" contest.
