Christendom roundup: Barbale leads Crusaders to win

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Christendom College’s Mary Barbale tallied a game-high 29 points to lead the Crusaders to a 69-46 women’s basketball victory over host Wilson College on Monday night.

Barbale finished with a double-double for Christendom (1-3), pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds to go with her 29 points. Barbale also sank three 3-pointers, notched a team-best four assists and had four steals in the win.

Morgan Kavanagh added 17 points for the Crusaders, who stretched a one-point halftime lead (27-26) to double digits by outscoring the Phoenix 42-20 in the second half. Elizabeth Ford chipped in eight points and seven rebounds in the win.

Wilson (0-2) made just 1 of 14 from beyond the 3-point arc and committed 22 turnovers to Christendom’s 13. Vanessa Whitfield tallied a double-double for the Phoenix with 26 points and 17 rebounds, and Morgan Wonders nearly joined her with eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Crusaders return to action on Dec. 2 with a home game against Central Penn College. Game time is 5 p.m. in Front Royal.
