HARRISONBURG — James Madison field hockey senior Amy Goldstein and redshirt sophomore Taylor West earned 2013 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-South Region Second Team honors, it was announced Tuesday morning.

Earlier this month, Goldstein was tabbed the Colonial Athletic Association’s Defensive Player of the Year by league coaches. She also earned All-CAA First Team honors for helping the Dukes to five shutouts this season (10-8) and allowing just 1.67 goals scored per game by opponents. The senior also notched a team-high tying six assists and a career-high five goals.

West, also an All-CAA First Team honoree in 2013, led JMU with 14 goals and 33 points this season. She earned two CAA Player of the Week credits, both following three-goal single-game performances, and averaged a league-leading 1.29 goals per game.

Each of the four regions that encompass CAA schools fielded conference players on the All-Region teams. Drexel and Delaware each had two All-Mid-Atlantic First Team players and one second-team player. In the Mideast Region, Hofstra fielded one first-team honoree and one second-team honoree. Northeastern earned three All-Northeast Region Second Team accolades, and William & Mary joined JMU on the All-South Region Second Team with one honoree.

This is the second straight year two Dukes have earned NFHCA All-Southeast Region Second Team accolades. Last season, Jenna Taylor (JMU ’13) and Rachel Wein (JMU ’13) were named to the honorary squad.
