RICHMOND -- James Madison University women's basketball sophomore guard Precious Hall is the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Hall led the Dukes to a pair of wins with victories at Richmond and home against Alcorn State during the week. She averaged 19 points per game to go with four rebounds, 3.5 assists and a steal per contest. The second-year guard made 15 of her 29 shot attempts to shoot .517 from the field, including hitting six of her 10 3-point tries. She grabbed three offensive boards as part of her eight rebounds.
In the win over Richmond on Thursday, Hall had a game-high 21 points to go with four rebounds, three assists and a teal in 35 minutes played. She followed that performance with a team-best 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in 20 minutes against Alcorn State.
This season, Hall is second on the team with 13.8 eights per game. She's chipped in three rebounds per contest to go with nine assists and six steal in 26.5 minutes a game.
Delaware's Erika Brown collected CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
JMU returns to the court on Friday as it travels to Naples, Fla., to play in the Gulf Coast Showcase. Madison opens the three-day tournament against UCLA at 8:30 p.m.
HARRISONBURG -- James Madison women's tennis coach Maria Malerba announced Monday afternoon the signings of Dylan Owens and Kimberly Herrock to National Letters of Intent for 2014-15.
Owens hails from Olney, Md., where she attends Sherwood High School and trains at the Junior Tennis Champions Center. According to TennisRecruiting.net, she currently ranks second among all members of the class of 2014 in Maryland, 17th in the Mid-Atlantic region and 98th nationally.
Herrock is a four-star recruit from Tarpon Springs, Fla. and trains at the Bardmoor Tennis Academy. A four-star recruit, she is ranked 17th in the state of Florida, 31st in the southeast and 93rd nationally according to TennisRecruiting.net. She boasts a 21-10 record against other four-star recruits, including seven straight wins since July 2013.
The Dukes open the spring dual season on Jan. 18 when they travel to Colonial Athletic Association rival William & Mary.
