RICHMOND – James Madison swimming and diving redshirt freshman diver Taryn McLaughlin has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Diver of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. This is the second time this season the rookie has claimed the CAA’s weekly diving honor.
McLaughlin helped lead JMU to a sweep of last weekend’s CAA Pod meet. She placed first on the three-meter board, scoring a 284.90 and followed that up with a second-place showing on the one-meter board. She totaled 247.20 points on the one-meter, trailing only Delaware’s Kristina Congdon in the event.
This season, McLaughlin has finished second or better six times in her eight events. She has finished fifth or better in all of her dives and has totaled NCAA Zone diving qualifying scores on both the one-meter and three-meter board.
The Dukes are off for the next two weekends before finishing up their fall semester schedule with a trip to Atlanta, Ga., on Nov. 21-23 for the Georgia Tech Invitational.
