MINNEAPOLIS — Shenandoah University senior men’s basketball player Avery Green has been named to the week one D3hoops.com Team of the Week in selections announced Friday afternoon by the website.

Green, who was named as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week two weeks ago, averaged 29.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in the Hornets first four contests of the season.

In the season-opening BB&T Tournament, Green scored 58 points as SU downed Methodist and Hood to earn its first BB&T title since 2004.

He then followed that up with 23 points in a win over former USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan and a career-high 37 against Mary Washington last Saturday.

The 37 points is tied for the eighth-best single game performance in school history.

This is his first D3hoops.com honor.

Shenandoah is back in action Saturday at Lynchburg in its ODAC opener. Tip-off against Lynchburg is scheduled for 3 p.m.
