FOREST -- Shenandoah University is the pre-season No. 8 selection of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball coaches in poll results released Thursday morning as part of the league's annual media day.
Shenandoah, which finished fifth last season in its first season of ODAC competition, has 58 points in the poll to come in 24 points clear of No. 9 Emory and Henry.
Coach C.K. Calhoun's club was seven points back of No. 7 Roanoke.
Eastern Mennonite is the pre-season pick to win it all this season after garnering six first-place votes and 116 points.
Two-time defending champion Guilford has four first-place votes and 112 points to claim the runner-up spot.
Lynchburg, Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph-Macon and Bridgewater occupy the Nos. 3 thru 6 positions in the poll. SU defeated all of those schools in 2012-13 except Virginia Wesleyan and downed Roanoke in the only meeting between the two schools last season.
Shenandoah opens its season on Nov. 15 versus Rutgers-Newark at the Randolph-Macon Tournament.
