FOREST — Freshman Erin Septer led a group of five Shenandoah University women’s soccer players earning All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference accolades in selections announced Thursday afternoon by the league office.
Septer, who had nine wins and four shutouts for the Hornets this past season, was named second team All-ODAC at goalkeeper after helping SU to a fourth-place finish in the league this fall.
Shenandoah reached the conference semifinals for the second straight year and Septer posted a shutout in the tournament quarterfinals versus Roanoke.
The remaining four players were selected third team All-ODAC.
Sophomore Danielle Burris was selected at midfield and freshman Jennifer Nguyen was tapped at forward, while senior Jenna Kline and sophomore Ellen Strom earned honors at back.
Burris paced coach Liz Pike’s club with nine goals and two assists for 20 points and had game-winning goals in victories over Mary Washington, Randolph and Bridgewater.
She was named ODAC Player of the Week the first week of September after leading SU to a 2-1 and 6-1 wins over Mary Washington and Marymount, respectively.
Nguyen, who earned ODAC All-Tournament honors at the end of the season, started 12 of 19 games in the midfield and had two goals and three assists for seven points.
Kline and Strom anchored the defense in front of Septer, helping the squad to eight shutouts on the season and just a 1.33 goals against average.
The Shenandoah defense allowed just six goals in league play all season long.
This is the third all-league honor for Kline in four seasons as a starter and she is a three-time first team Academic All-District honoree.
Strom and Kline both contributed one assist each this season.
