Prep roundup: Holder’s double-double not enough for R-MA

THE PLAINS — Senior Carson Holder’s second double-double of th season wasn’t enough to lift Randolph-Macon Academy’s boys basketball team over Wakefield School on Thursday.

Holder finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, who dropped a 68-34 decision in Delaney Athletic Conference action.

R-MA (1-1, 0-1 DAC) also got five points from Evan Lester.

Wakefield (5-1, 1-0 DAC) was led by Brandon Wiseman with 17 points. Wil Rasmussen chipped in 15 points and DeAndre Clark had 14 for the Owls.

Girls basketball

SVCA 54, Fredericksburg Christian 37

STEPHENS CITY – Grace Snyder’s 14-point outing led host Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy to a 54-37 girls basketball victory over Fredericksburg Christian on Thursday.

Snyder also pulled down eight rebounds and had four of SVCA’s 25 steals in the game.

Sam Yarnall had a huge all-around game for the Patriots. Yarnall talled 13 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and eight steals. Also for SVCA (5-1), Hannah McGann had 12 points, seven steals and seven assists, and Carol Bartholomew finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

Massanutten Academy 44, Highland View 33

WOODSTOCK — Chelsea Reid poured in a game-high 20 points to lead host Massanutten Academy to a 44-33 girls basketball victory over Highland View Academy (Md.) on Thursday.

Selah Applin added nine points for the Colonels.

For Highland View, Sarah Roberts and Courtney Tooley had 10 points each. Cherise Coleman chipped in nine for the Tartans.
