Prep roundup: Kloosterman has big debut for Rams

MANASSAS PARK — The return of injured big man Jonathan Kloosterman to the lineup was a lift for Strasburg High School’s boys basketball team on Tuesday night.
Kloosterman, last season’s leading scorer who has been sidelined all season from an injury suffered during football, came trhough with 13 points and nine rebounds in the Rams’ 47-21 victory over Bull Run District rival Manassas Park.
Strasburg (2-2, 2-1 Bull Run) held the Cougars to just five first-half points.
“The key for us tonight was our defense, to hold someone to five points at the half,” Strasburg coach Matt Hiserman said.
Ryan Smoot added nine points for Strasburg.
Stuarts Draft 92, Stonewall Jackson 69
STUARTS DRAFT — Homestanding Stuarts Draft dealt Stonewall Jackson its first loss of the season in Tuesday’s Shenandoah District boys basketball opener.
The Cougars sank 10 3-pointers in the victory. Jamal Wilson had a game-high 27 points and Zach Sauder added 21 for Stuarts Draft.
Colton Harlow finished with a team-high 14 points for Stonewall Jackson (3-1, 0-1 Shenandoah). Corey Polk added 13 points, and Hunter Smootz and Daniel Buhl had 12 each for the Generals.
Trinity Christian 56, R-MA 37
FRONT ROYAL — Visiting Trinity Christian picked up a 56-37 boys basketball victory over Randolph-Macon Academy on Tuesday.
Carson Holdern had 13 points to lead the Yellow Jackets. Paul Miller added eight points for R-MA (1-3).
Stuarts Draft 47, Stonewall Jackson 26
QUICKSBURG –Â Visiting Stuarts Draft got 10 points from three different players en route to a 47-26 victory over Stonewall Jackson on Tuesday in Shenandoah District girls basketball action.
Maddy Riley, Deborah Black and Paetyn Beverly notched 10 points apiece for Stuarts Draft (3-1, 1-0 Shenandoah).
Cheyenne Crigger and Kayla Miller each had seven points to lead Stonewall (0-5, 0-1 Shenandoah).
