Prep roundup: Massanutten wins at Caisson Shootout

WAYNESBORO — Massanutten Academy’s postgraduate boys basketball team picked up an 85-79 victory over Gray Military Academy in Friday’s opening round of the Best Western Caisson Shootout at Fishburne Military School.

D.J. Foreman, a Rutgers signee, led Massanutten with 23 points. Dimitri Sousa chipped in 18 points, and University of Hawaii-bound guard Isaac Fleming added 11 points for the Colonels.

Massanutten will play Ridgeview Prep at 5 p.m. today in the Shootout, and will face Kiski Prep at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Girls basketball

Loudoun Valley 52, Skyline 33

PURCELLVILLE — Visiting Skyline committed 30 turnovers in a 52-33 loss to Loudoun Valley in the Loudoun Valley Tip-Off Tournament on Friday.

Shayne Clifton led the Hawks with 11 points and Quinn Breeden also scored in double figures with 10 points. Jenny Norman chipped in eight points for Skyline (1-1), which will face John Champe at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament.



Potomac School tri-match

MCLEAN — Randolph-Macon Academy’s wrestling team split a pair of matches on Thursday at the Potomac School.

The Yellow Jackets earned a 34-24 victory over Potomac School and dropped a 42-33 decision to The Heights.

Against Potomac School, winners from R-MA included So-So Eke Spiff (113 pounds), Jon Moore (145), Luke Hankinson (138), Manny Arellano (170) and David Lee (182). Arellano and Lee both won by pin.

Hankinson and Moore added wins against The Heights.
