Prep roundup: Yellow Jackets win opener

FLINT HILL — Randolph-Macon Academy’s boys basketball team got double-doubles from Paul Miller and Carson Holder in a 51-31 season-opening win against Wakefield Country Day on Thursday.

Miller finished with a game-high 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets. Holder finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Also for R-MA (1-0), Travis Pullen notched 10 points and Chris Rowe chipped in six points and nine assists.

SVA 56, Massanutten Academy 48, OT

NEW MARKET — Elijah Moore tallied 18 points to help lift host Shenandoah Valley Academy to a 56-48 overtime win over Massanutten Academy on Thursday.

Austin Plank added nine points for the Stars.

Joshua Holt scored a game-high 19 points to lead Massanutten. Damoni Gunter added 10 points for the Colonels.

Massanutten Academy 40, SVA 29

NEW MARKET — Selah Applin poured in a game-high 24 points to spark Massanutten Academy to a 40-29 win over host Shenandoah Valley Academy on Thursday.

Mara Dorsey added 11 points in he win for the Colonels.
