HARRISONBURG -- After leading James Madison with 17 points in a league win over the College of Charleston on Saturday, freshman guard Jackson Kent (High Point, N.C./High Point Christian) was selected as Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Kent, who had scored 14 points total in JMU's first five league games, was 6-for-12 from the floor and 3-for-6 from the arc with five rebounds in 31 minutes. His 17 points, six field goals and three 3-pointers were all career highs. Kent's afternoon included a key stretch of scoring 10 straight points for the Dukes to take the score from 44-42 Charleston to 52-48 JMU with 7:22 remaining.
The award marks the second of the season for Kent, who was also honored on Dec. 9. He is the third league player to earn multiple rookie honors this season joining William and Mary's Omar Prewitt and Hofstra's Jamall Robinson.
