Prep roundup: Sherando tops Washington in girls basketball

Sherando used a balanced attack to knock off Washington (W.Va.), 69-38, in non-district girls basketball action Saturday.

Heidi Brown had 21 points, eight rebounds, four steals and five blocks to lead the Warriors (8-4). Audra Sites had six points and 12 rebounds, and Jess Hakel had 16 points and six assists for the Warriors. Erin Magalis had five assists and Davina Lane had 10 points and four steals for Sherando.


STAFFORD — Sherando finished second in the Mountain View Duals on Saturday in Stafford. The Warriors lost in the final to Mountain View, 46-27.

The Warriors went 4-0 in pool play before the finals. They beat Potomac 74-6, Brentsville 39-31, Tuscarora 57-20 and Cosby 53-27. Jacob Guthridge (132) and Tyler Hamilton (220) each went 5-0 for the Warriors. Mike Duffy (106), Curtis Guthridge (113), Colton Simmons (138), John Borst (152), P.K. Jessen (170) and Ben Avery (285) all went 4-1 for the Warriors.
