Prep roundup: Falcons too much for Green Dragons

WOODSTOCK -- Central High School senior guard Katelyn Poston poured in a game-high 20 points to lead the Falcons to a 56-34 win over William Monroe in Bull Run District girls basketball action on Wednesday.

Central (8-3, 6-3 Bull Run District) also got 11 points apiece from Cianne Fields and Tamra Scott.

William Monroe (2-8, 2-7 Bull Run) was led by Kirsten Blakey and Breanna Strother, who each had 10 points for the Green Dragons.

Clarke County 53, Strasburg 44

BERRYVILLE -- Host Clarke County stayed unbeaten with a 53-44 win over Bull Run District rival Strasburg on Wednesday.

Sydney Chrane tallied a game-high 21 points to lead the Eagles, who improved to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in district play.

Strasburg (5-6, 2-5 Bull Run) got a double-double from Mikala Alsberry, who finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Emily Melnikoff added nine points and Carey Scott had eight for the Rams.
