FOREST -- Shenandoah University is the preseason No. 2 selection in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball race in poll results announced Thursday by the league office.
Shenandoah, coming off of of a 27-win season, received one first-place vote and 88 points to come in 10 points behind defending regular-season champion Bridgewater in the poll.
Bridgewater had eight first-place votes while Randolph-Macon, the defending tournament champion, had the remaining two first-place votes and 85 points to come in the third spot.
SU finished tied for third in last season's inaugural ODAC campaign.
The Hornets, under the direction of head coach Kevin Anderson, opens its 2014 season on Feb. 15 with a non-league doubleheader against Misericordia.
Anderson enters his 11th season as the Shenandoah skipper needing just 11 wins for 300 in his SU career and 14 wins for 500 as a college head coach.
