On Campus: Conley makes impact at Virginia Wesleyan

By Tommy Keeler Jr.

Cassie Conley (Stonewall Jackson '12) is having a strong sophomore season at Virginia Wesleyan and showing off her versatility.

Conley has started 18 for the Marlins' 21 games, and has been solid in many statistics. Conley is averaging 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She has 17 assists and 12 steals.

She is shooting 30.2 percent (38-for-126) from the field and is third on the team with a 26.8 percent (19-for-71) from 3-point range. She is also second on the team with her 76.2 free-throw percentage (16-for-21).

On Jan. 18, Conley scored 10 points, five rebounds and an assist to lead the Marlins to a 60-35 win over Washington and Lee. She also had a season-high 12 points on Dec. 1 in a 68-58 loss to Marymount.

The Marlins are 13-9 overall, and 7-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

CAREER DAY: Delaware women's basketball sophomore Courtni Green (Millbrook '12) played a big part in helping the Blue Hens rally for a win this weekend.

Green had a career-high 18 points as Delaware rallied to beat UNC-Wilmington, 70-50, on Feb. 7. The Blue Hens trailed 34-33 at the half, but Green led the charge back. The guard had 16 of her 18 points in the second half. She was 7-for-12 from the field, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range.

Green also had six rebounds, one steal and one assist in the win. It's the third time this season Green has led the Blue Hens in scoring.

For the season, Green is averaging 8.8 points per game, second on the team. She also has a team-best 42 assists and 15 steals and is averaging 4.4 rebounds per game.

Green is shooting 36.5 percent (58-for-119) from the field and is shooting 35.5 percent (33-for-93) from beyond the arc.

The Blue Hens are 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association.

SOLID ON THE MAT: University of North Carolina wrestler Jake Crawford (Millbrook '12) is having a solid sophomore campaign for the Tar Heels.

Crawford has 11 wins this season for UNC, and finished fourth in the Wolfpack Open earlier this season on Nov. 17 in the 157-pound class.

Crawford has wrestled at 157 and 165 for the Tar Heels this year.

On Jan. 25, Crawford beat Navy's Zach Johnson, 6-0, and the day before that topped Maryland's Ben Dorsay, 4-2. He wrestled at 157 in both matches, but the Tar Heels lost as a team in both contests.

Earlier in the season, Crawford had a stretch where he went 5-2 for the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels are 5-10, and 0-4 in the ACC this season.

Crawford is now 21-23 in his career at North Carolina. Last year, Crawford went 10-6 wrestling at 157 pounds, including three wins by pin.
