MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Elisha Freeman helped Martinsburg free itself from Sherando midway through the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss in eight games with a 69-65 boys basketball victory.
Freeman scored inside to snap a tie and give Martinsburg a lead for the final time, made two free throws and finally stole a pass that led to layup, providing the Bulldogs with a 63-59 lead.
Sherando pulled to within 67-65 with 25 seconds left, but the Warriors threw away a pass with a chance to tie the game, and Jerrell Jones hit two free throws for the final margin of victory.
Freeman scored a career-high 28 points. Jones and Jessiya Villa added 15 apiece.
Grant Golden's 21 points paced Sherando (7-12), while Jeremiah Curtis and Isaiah Williams scored 14 points apiece.
Martinsburg is 12-4.
