STEPHENS CITY — Sherando dominated from the start and cruised to an 88-55 non-district girls basketball win over Washington (W.Va.) on Monday night.

“We played a real solid game,” Sherando coach Mike Marsh said. “It was a good game to end the regular season on.”

Heidi Brown led the Warriors with 20 points, and Jess Hakel had 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Audra Sites had 14 points and seven steals, and Davina Lane had 11 points and five steals for the Warriors (13-6). Erin Magalis added nine points and five steals.

Sherando will host either Dominion or Heritage in the Conference 21 quarterfinals on Friday at 6 p.m.

Riverheads 45, Stonewall Jackson 33

QUICKSBURG — Emily Jordan’s 17-point outing wasn’t enough for host Stonewall Jackson on Monday night’s 45-33 loss to Shenandoah District rival Riverheads.

Jordan connected on three 3-pointers en route to finishing with a game-high scoring total for Stonewall Jackson (0-21, 0-13 Shenandoah).

Emma Casto had 14 points to lead Riverheads (8-13, 3-10 Shenandoah).

Boys basketball

Highland View 86, SVCA 82

WARRENTON — SVCA’s Evan Hotek had 43 points and 12 rebounds, but the Patriots still came up short against Highland View on Monday in boys basketball action.

The Patriots led 40-37 at the half, but were outscored 27-18 in the third period. Hotek also had five assists. Shyheim Gilkerson had 15 points and three rebounds for the Patriots.
