Prep roundup: Warriors win Conference 21 Duals

PURCELLVILLE — Sherando won the Conference 21 Duals on Saturday, going 7-0 in the wrestling meet held at Woodgrove High School.

The meet helped determine the upcoming seedings for this weekend’s Conference 21 tournament held at Sherando. The Warriors will have 11 of their 14 wrestlers seeded first, second or third.

Earning a top seed for next week by going 7-0 were Jacob Guthridge (132, six pins), Jordan Dalton (145, three pins, tech. fall), P.K. Jessen (170, five pins) and Tyler Hamilton (220, three pins, tech. fall maj. dec.). Earning second seeds next week by going 6-1 were Mike Duffy (106, two pins, maj. dec.), Curtis Guthridge (113, four pins) and John Borst (152, four pins, maj. dec.). Going 5-2 and earning No. 3 seeds in the conference tournament were Andrew Hamilton (126, tech. fall), Colton Simons (138, 1 pin), Killian McPartland (182, two pins) and Ben Avery (285, three pins).


Bull Run District meet

MANASSAS PARK — Central’s boys finished second in the Bull Run District swim meet on Saturday at Manassas Park Community Center.

The Falcons finished second with 100 points, while George Mason won the meet with 175.5. Strasburg finished fifth with 38 points. Central’s Trevor Wolf placed second in the 100 freestyle (53.72) and the 200 freestyle (2:00.82). Central’s Jonathan Feaster was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.67) and Ethan Coleman was third in the 500 freestyle (5:55.23). Central placed second in the 200 medley relay (1:54.60) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:43.49).

Strasburg’s Josh Stickles was second in the 200IM (2:16.19) and the 100 fly (59.50).

Central’s girls finished sixth with 26 points, while Strasburg’s finished seventh with 19. George Mason won with 155 points. Central’s Bethany Neri finished third in the 100 freestyle (1:04.43) and the 200 freestyle (2:25.28).

VISAA Division II Invitational
MANASSAS — Randolph Macon Academy’s Quinn Blankenship had a strong day at the VISAA Division II Invitational on Saturday at Seton School.

Blankenship won the girls 500 freestyle (5:37.86) and placed second in the 200 freestyle (2:08.55). The Yellow Jackets finished eighth in the meet on the girls side with 60 points. Seton School won the meet with 386 points.

On the boys side, Cheng Qian placed second for R-MA in the 100 backstroke (58.06) and third in the 50 freestyle (23:69).
