SU roundup: Men's lacrosse picked 10th in ODAC preseason poll

FOREST -- The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team is the pre-season No. 10 selection of the ODAC coaches in poll results released Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Shenandoah, preparing to enter its first season under new coach Tim Marshall, has 10 points in the poll to come in at the No. 10 spot.

Points are awarded on a 9-1 basis and coaches cannot vote for their own team in the poll.

Lynchburg, with six first-place votes and 78 points, edged out defending champion Roanoke for the top spot. The Maroons had 76 points and the remaining four first-place votes.

SU jumped out to a 5-1 start last season, exceeding its combined win total from the previous three seasons.

Junior Aaron Paul is the squad's leading returning scorer with 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points.

The Hornets open up the 2014 season on February 15 at Southern Virginia.

4. Hampden-Sydney 53 pts.

5. Virginia Wesleyan 48 pts.

8. Randolph 25 pts.

9. Bridgewater 16 pts.

10. Shenandoah 10 pts.
