Prep roundup: Falcons rally past Dragons in baseball

STANARDSVILLE — Visiting Central High School rallied from a three-run deficit to knock off William Monroe 7-4 on Wednesday in Bull Run District baseball action.
“That’s the first time we’ve put the whole package together,” Central coach Donn Foltz said. “I’m very proud of the boys to get a win at their place.”
Trailing 3-0 after three innings, Central scored two runs in the top of the fourth and then broke loose with a four-run rally in the fifth. Sam Cornman drove in two runs and Zach Herbaugh had another during that outburst.
Herbaugh finished with a 4-for-4 night at the plate, including a double. Hayden Bauserman added two hits, including a double, for the Falcons.
Cody Sager picked up a complete-game victory for Central.
Central 3, William Monroe 3
WOODSTOCK — Taishi Ukai had a hat trick to help Central to a 3-3 tie with William Monroe in Bull Run District action.
Ukai tied the game with 7:46 left on an assist from Eric Ventura. The Dragons held a 2-0 lead at the half, but the Falcons (3-1-2) rallied. Ukai scored with 37:17 left in regulation on an assist by Franklin Hernandez. Ukai tied the game at 2-2 on an assist by Elmer Lopez with 14:25 left in regulation. William Monroe’s Connor Higgins had a hat trick for the Dragons, and scored his final goal with 13:26 remaining in regulation.
Both teams had 14 shots.
“I was proud of the boys in the second half,” Central coach Ted Poor said. “They realized they had a job to do and they did it.”
