Prep roundup: Rams hammer Cougars

STRASBURG — Megan Emswiler threw a four-hitter as Strasburg pounded Manassas Park, 12-2, in Bull Run District softball action on Thursday night. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

The Rams had 18 hits in the victory. Carey Scott went 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to lead the Rams (2-4, 1-3 Bull Run). Nikki Killen went 2-4 with three RBIs for Strasburg. Mikala Alsberry and Marissa Doman each went 3-for-4 for the Rams.

Quantico 14, R-MA 1

FRONT ROYAL — Visiting Quantico rolled past Randolph-Macon Academy in Delaney Athletic Conference softball action on Thursday.

Kelli Hutcheson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Kimmie Pitts added a 2-for-3 effort and a run scored for R-MA (0-3, 0-3 DAC).

Girls soccer

Sherando 1, Millbrook 1

WINCHESTER — Erin Magalis scored in the 72nd minute to help give Sherando a 1-1 tie with Millbrook in Northwestern District girls soccer action.

The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Devon Davis. The two teams each had 13 shots. Mandy Fogerty had the assist on Magalis’ goal, which was her third in the last two games. Sherando is now 2-2-1 and 0-1 in the district. This game did not count towards the district standings since the teams play each other three times this season.
