Prep roundup: Wildcats pound John Champe

FRONT ROYAL -- Warren County pounded out 15 hits en route to an 11-1 win over John Champe on Thursday in non-district softball action. The game was called after six innings due to the mercy rule.

Brooke Post went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI's for the Wildcats (6-3, 4-2 Bull Run). Emma Wright was 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Warren County. Paige McLachlan struck out seven in five innings of work in the circle.

Central 6, Loudoun Valley 3

PURCELLVILLE -- The Falcons pounded out 12 hits in a 6-3 victory over Loudoun Valley in non-district softball action.

Bekah Ansbro allowed just five hits and struck out 10 for the Falcons (9-2).


Loudoun Valley 9, Central 7

PURCELLVILLE -- Central fell on the road to Conference 28 foe Loudoun Valley, 9-7, on Thursday evening.

Zach Herbaugh went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Falcons (5-6), while Cody Sager was 1-for-1 with an RBI double. Brandon Paschall was 2-for-3 with a double for Central. The Falcons had seven total hits and committed four errors.

R-MA 11, 10; Massanutten Academy 2, 1 (doubleheader)

FRONT ROYAL -- Host Randolph-Macon Academy swept a doubleheader against Massanutten Academy on Thursday evening, as the Yellow Jackets won the first game, 11-2, and game two, 10-1. Both games were played to five innings.

Thomas Minchew pitched all five innings of the first game for R-MA and allowed just two hits while striking out 11 batters.

Travis Pullen tossed the second game for the Yellow Jackets and struck out seven batters while allowing 4 hits and one hit batter.

Pullen also did damage at the plate, as he went a combined 5-for-5 with a double and six RBIs in the two games. Minchew was 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the second game for the Yellow Jackets (5-3).
