Softball

ASHLAND -- Host Randolph-Macon secured its spot in the upcoming ODAC softball tournament by sweeping a doubleheader from Shenandoah Friday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (22-10, 12-8 ODAC) rallied for a 5-3 victory in the opener before taking game two, 4-1, over SU (10-21, 8-10).

The Hornets scored three runs in the top of the first inning of game one thanks to a three-run HR by Lindsay Corbin, but saw Macon score a single run in the bottom of the frame and then add two runs in both the second and third.

Corbin's homer, her sixth of the season, was one of just three hits that Shenandoah was able to muster in the contest.

Corbin had a double in the fourth and Kimberly Brady a single in the sixth.

Megan Tripp (5-10) took the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks.

Tripp struck out two.

The 'Jackets scored two runs in the bottom of the first off of game two starter Lisa Mitro (3-4) to secure the sweep.

Morgan Coble led the offense with a 2-for-3 contest that included an RBI single in the fourth.

Mitro gave up the four runs on eight hits and one walk.

Shenandoah completes its conference schedule on Monday with a 3:00 doubleheader against Virginia Wesleyan.
