STANARDSVILLE — Central’s baseball season came to an end on Wednesday night, as the Falcons fell, 5-0, to top-seeded William Monroe in the Conference 28 semifinals.

Junior Cody Sager pitched all six innings for the third-seeded Falcons (11-10), despite the game being delayed three times due to lightning. He allowed eight hits, two walks and hit a batter while also striking out four.

Sager also had one of Central’s four hits in the game, with seniors Hayden Bauserman, Zach Baker and Jordan Rau getting the other four hits for the Falcons.

“Good group of guys. We battled through some ups and downs but we came together at the end,” Falcons coach Donn Foltz said. “Came up a little short tonight. We didn’t play well enough to win. When you play a good team like that you can’t afford to make mistakes.”
