Prep roundup: Falcons tennis duo advances to regionals

FRONT ROYAL -- Central High School's Katelyn Foltz and Rebecca Truban locked up a spot in next week's regional tournament by reaching the Conference 28 individual doubles girls tennis tournament on Friday at Skyline High School.

Foltz and Truban beat Skyline's Kaylee Venable and Alex Zarzuela 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals. Loudoun Valley's Maddie Coffman and Abbie Baird topped the Central pair 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the finals as both advanced to regional play.

In the boys tournament, Central's Sam Barbour and Bobby Loveland and Warren County's Casey Stewart and Cody Weaver both lost their semifinals matches and failed to advance.

Girl soccer

Heritage 5, Sherando 2

LEESBURG -- Sherando's girls soccer season came to an end with a 5-2 loss to Heritage in the Conference 21 tournament quarterfinals.

Mandy Fogarty and Tori Dean tallied unassisted second-half goals for the Warriors, who were outshot 15-8 by the Pride.

Sherando goalkeepers Akira Irving and Amanda Hott combined for six saves.
